A Tierramor residency is for people looking for something different from a traditional retreat: people who want to co-create with others, and who arrive with their whole self, bringing their work, questions, knowledge, and practices with them.

It is especially suited to people and communities who want to experiment with what it might feel like to live differently: in closer relationship with one another, alongside the land, and as part of a living system already in motion.

Tierramor is a working farm in the jungle. There are compost toilets, insects, mud, heat, humidity, and days when the land sets the pace. If that feels enlivening rather than inconvenient, you will likely feel at home here.

A retreat typically invites people to step away from their everyday lives and enter a guided experience with a defined program, facilitator, and intended outcome. It is usually a closed experience, meaning the retreat leader brings together participants from within their own network or community. The group primarily engages with the retreat's program, with limited interaction with Tierramor's team and the wider life of the land.

A residency offers something different: time and space to live, work, learn, and create alongside one another. There may be a shared focus or guiding question, but participants also arrive with their own work, knowledge, practices, and curiosity. The experience is shaped not only by the host, but by the people gathered, the land itself, and the everyday life unfolding around them.

What does this mean practically? During a residency, you might start your morning planting with our farm team, before heading over to our co-work to take calls and answer emails. You'll have breakfast and lunch with the people who keep Tierramor running. In the afternoon you may head into town or take a nap on your stargazing balcony. You may participate in a fellow resident's practice or class in the movement studio. A residency lets you tune into the rhythms of the farm and the wider ecosystem. You create the experiences you want to participate in without the guilt or pressure of having to follow a schedule someone else created for you.

Tierramor holds the container: the land, accommodations, food, shared spaces, on-site operations. Our team welcomes participants, orients them to the property and the farm, and creates the conditions for people to live and work well together.

The partner holds the humans and the vision. They bring the community together, support the relational life of the group, and guide the shared inquiry or creative arc of the residency. Rather than arriving with every outcome predetermined, the partner helps participants listen for what is emerging, what wants to be explored, shaped, or made, and supports the group in bringing that into form.

In practice, we work alongside one another: Tierramor tends to the place and the container; the partner tends to the people and the purpose.

Tierramor can host a maximum of 32 participants. We have 19 casitas in total.

Partnerships are set up months ahead, not weeks. Contract and deposit come first, and marketing starts after both. For open residencies we plan at least four months between signing and the start date, because that is how long it takes to fill a cohort well. The final balance is due two weeks before the residency begins.
