MEET YOUR FACILITATORS

  • Alexander Schimmel

Ever since I was a child, I knew I would play a role in awakening people to their full capacity of peace, purpose and pleasure. Teaching yoga has been my primary vessel and tool of expression and service in the world. I grew up with a mom who was a yoga teacher and instilled this practice into my life from birth. I did my first official yoga training at age 19 and after being diagnosed with auto-immune disease at 22 I left the corporate world and never looked back.

I spent the last 10+ years building communities, managing yoga studios, leading YTTs, and transformational retreats. I've lead 20+ retreats and Yoga Teacher Trainings with over 100 graduate students, many of whom have gone on to lead their own YTTs and retreats.

I believe yoga is a way of life and so much more than an hour on a mat. I'm here to guide you into your darkness so you can embrace the full spectrum of this human experience. To me, descension and ascension are equally important to heal/be whole. In the spaces I facilitate, I bring the original medicines of song, dance, storytelling, and silence.

I look forward to praying and playing with you!

  • Zaia Ortez

I believe that feeling is our only sovereignty in this life. My awakening began face to the mat in balasana, child’s pose, at a yoga class in a dark basement gym in New York City. I spent months returning to this posture, fascinated by the visceral feeling of the world beneath my fingertips. Since then, after 8 years of teaching and training - every yoga practice I share is different.

The spaces I hold are deep, organic, shamanic, practical, educational, musical and creative.

In 2018, I began a journey of offering trauma sensitive yoga to women and children in domestic violence shelters. I quickly became captivated by the physiology of trauma. Studying with Peter Levine, Stephen Porges, Jessica McGuire, Joann Lutz, Bessel van der Kolk, Aurianna Joy and many more.

I have facilitated thousands of bodies around the world working within a unique trauma intuitive lens that's backed in Somatic Experiencing, Bodywork, Non-Violent Communication, Eastern Energy modalities and years of my own healing. Alongside yoga, I serve as a breath worker, psychedelic integration guide, somatic therapist and reiki master.

My intention is to support a world of aliveness.

  • Kara Baruzzini

Hi! I’m Kara Baruzzini and I invite you to discover the depth of your own internal wisdom and your teacher within that has the brilliance to share these teachings with your own corner of the earth.

I am RYT-500 and a trauma-informed specialist, drawing inspiration from 12 years and more than 10,000 hours of immersion in learning, teaching, training, and observing yoga, and my studies in coaching methodologies that fuse the ancient wisdom of tantra with scientifically validated methods of transformation. My life's work revolves around the therapeutic use of movement and how it can work to rewire our brains in profound and healing ways.

Beyond leading yoga teacher trainings, I dedicate my time as a full-time somatic sex, love, and relationship coach. As a source of joy, catch me dancing Brazilian Zouk almost every day of the week—it's my present spiritual practice and my sanctuary. Outside of achievements, I prioritize the values of fun and enjoyment of life above all else, and I'm thrilled to open my heart and share this with you.

  • What is the food like?

Most of the food is vegetarian, and vegans can be accommodated. We aim to have as much local and organic food as possible.

  • What is the internet like?

All communal areas have internet. Tierramor has also built a dedicated lounge-like co-working space on the land, which is accessible to all community members. The internet is excellent and we hope to install high speed internet soon as well.

  • What is your children policy?

Right now we are open to adults only. Children are welcome to attend specific day events only. As Tierramor continues to grow and evolve, this may change.

  • Can I bring my car and what are the roads like?

If you are renting or bringing your own car, make sure you are driving a four-wheel drive (4x4). The majority of roads are unpaved, dirt roads and require a specialized car. You will be able to safely park your vehicle in the designated parking areas at Tierramor.

  • How do I get to Tierramor?

You can drive, or take a taxi service from Nosara.

    1. Type into GPS the following address: Mini Super Y Licores Río Montaña, located in the mango grove area between Nosara and Ostional.

    2. Once there, turn into the road towards the mountains which is next to the Mini super Y licores.

    3. Head straight for about 0.5 km until you reach a T junction. There will be a river on your right and a road on your left. Go left and follow the road for another mile.

    4. You will pass through a teak forest, go over a small bridge and a 2.5 mile dirt road up the hill will take you to Tierramor.

    5. You will see signs along the way and a member of our team will meet you up top to help with parking.

  • How far out of town is Tierramor?

We are located outside of Nosara in the Rio Montana area.

The easiest way to get into town is by car (4x4 necessary) which takes around ~25 minutes in the dry season. The roads can be really bad in the wet season, which makes this a longer and more challenging trip.

  • How far is the beach from Tierramor?

We are ~25 minutes away from the beach by car (4x4 necessary). There are sometimes shared rides available. The roads can be really bad in the wet season, which makes this a longer and more challenging trip.

  • Which are the best months to come?

The Dry Season, which extends from November to April, coincides with the peak tourist season. During these months, camping and casita accommodations are at their prime, and it is generally the most enjoyable time to stay at Tierramor. Please note March and April are the hottest months in the Guanacaste region.

The Green Season is exceptionally stunning but can present more challenges, including occasional power and internet outages, heavy rainfall, and difficult road conditions, primarily in the months of August through October.

The weather is greatly influenced by the annual climate patterns.

  • Is it possible to buy land or a house?

These opportunities are coming soon! Please sign up to our newsletter to stay up to date with this.
